Cyndi Whatif: Where I Hang Out Online

It’s hard to believe I am approaching my one-year anniversary of my author website going live. For those of you who don’t know me, I would like to introduce myself and let you know of the different locations I hang out at online.

Who I Am

In a nutshell, I guess you could say I am a Spoonie turned DISHer. By making a manual DISH (What is DISH? Blog Post) for my body on a daily basis, I am able to keep at bay (w/o medication) all of those horrid symptoms that come in tow for those who suffer with ME/CFS.

Symptoms I believe are brought on by the DISH (Defensive Individual Shield Hypothesis) of my body failing to do two jobs: shield the body and sort what the body encounters.

I am so convinced of this new view that it has been almost all consuming for me. Not only did I figure out what I believe can help many, I think it can help advance many areas of health if we give DISH an honest look.

My desire to share my findings as ‘just a stay-at-home mom’ on a miniscule budget has forced me to learn many skills. Skills that if I needed to pay for them, my ideas may have never seen the light of day.

I have an about page on my two websites if you are interested in learning more about me and what I have to offer the world. You can also sign up for my DISHers Digest Newsletter. I send it out every first and fifteenth of the month.

My Websites

My first main website was a blog I felt compelled to start because of the situation the world was forced into in fall of 2019 and spring of 2020. I learned how to design and build the website just so I can share my new knowledge I discovered about a possible DISH impacting our health. I have since redesigned it—it looks much better now. It is located at desperatetobewell.com. Stop on by and check it out.

In the process of making my knowledge into a business, I learned I needed a limited liability company to operate my business venture. I went to YouTube and figured out what all this entailed and now have a business called Websites by Cyndi LLC. I am doing business as (DBA) Desperate to Be Well.

I started thinking about how when I was at my sickest, I couldn’t be around electronic so I decided the information needed to be in book form. So, when my first book was ready to be published, I learned I should start my own publishing business—the DBA, Purple Beaver Publishing was born. I watched a plethora of YouTube videos in order to learn how to do this, as well as format and publish my book. I would like to help other authors who are financially strapped with this process. I plan to make blog posts about this knowledge here on my author website.

Once my first book—Health Backwards: An Original Look from a Different Perspective—went  live, I focused on getting my author website up and running. I know I should have done it sooner, but I was too busy learning many other things. (There is still only so much time in a day.) My author website, cyndiwhatif.com, was born about a month later.

I am now learning that I should have a blog on my author website even though I currently have another active blog elsewhere. So, you guessed it; I am going to strive to write a new blog for my author website every other week.

Just because it was getting easier to make websites and the name was available, instead of adding a page to my existing websites, I created and designated a website for my book. Check it out here: healthbackwards.com.

My Social Media Accounts

As we all know, websites aren’t the only places to hang out online. We have social media. I never rode that wave on a personal level, but I am striving to force myself to be present and available online for my DISH message at LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram (by default), Twitter, Pinterest, and (drum roll please) YouTube—not yet, but very soon.

The downfall to this though is the censoring of new ideas on some of these platforms. It has been so crazy online. I am not giving medical advice but sharing what I discovered. Would fact checkers look at the logic I share or just say, ‘No, nobody else is saying this.’? Of course they aren’t…it’s NEW!

I can’t see the harm in sharing new ideas—but that doesn’t necessarily mean Big Pharma or The Powers That Be feel the same way. This is intimidating and overwhelming to me at times. But, my convictions of the importance of DISH is very strong.

Hey, I have come so far and learned so much…why stop now. I know YouTube was what got me to where I am now. Hence, the desire to overcome and be present on this platform too. I would love to do the same for others with their struggling health problems, even if it is just to encourage them.

Other Locations

If this is not enough, there are several other areas that are available to add a profile and list books. I am striving to create a wide net. A wide net that requires little monetization. A few of these areas are here.

Remember the saying, ‘Visibility Creates Credibility.’ I know what I have figured out works for me and I strongly believe it will work for others too, thus my passion to get the message to other Spoonies in hopes of them desiring to become a DISHer as well.

Sometimes I am overwhelmed at the amount of information I have learned as I am seeking to write more books and courses to enable you to break free too. If only I could give myself a degree for time spent researching. I would have easily received my master’s degree by now. 🙂 Oh well.
